In addition to giving lectures on quilt history I also provide classes that teach piecing and quilting skills that relate to my lectures. You can book a class with a lecture or just book a class with me! Please contact me for details on pricing and availability.
Free Motion Quilting Class
(6 hour class)
New to quilting and want to try your hand at quilting without the walking foot? Or are you a free motion master who wants to learn new patterns? Both skill levels will find something useful and inspiring in this class. First we go over free motion basics to get everyone warmed up for some fun play! Then the students get to take the lead, selecting which patterns they are interested in learning from my quilting samples. We’ll go over how to make each design and students will leave class with a sampler of their own to refer to in their own work later.
Optional kit fee includes premade quilt sandwich for class.
(3 hour class)
A fun and stress free class designed to help you finally get a label on all of those quilts! Bring a number of unlabeled quilts that are already complete or quilts in progress if you want to get a jump start on finishing them. We’ll go over a number of different methods for labeling your art, the type of information you should include on your label, and things to consider when selecting a label type. You’ll then get to select items to try from the label buffet. Learn what methods you like and don’t like and get those quilts fully finished. Remember, it’s not done until you sign it!
Kit fee covers use of different labeling materials and methods from the label buffet. Students will be able to purchase extras of supplies they like to take home with them.
