UPDATE - April 29, 2021
Closed for custom quilt orders.
I am taking a break from making custom memory quilts so that I can focus on some new aspects of my business.
Orders for custom quilts that are in the queue will be completed but I am not taking new orders at this time.
Thank you to everyone who has ordered a custom quilt from me!
I may reopen this in the future and will be sure to share when I do!
I make custom, functional, zero-waste art quilts that are as special and unique as the individual or event you are commemorating. I would love to make something just for you!
If you are interested in a t-shirt quilt or pillow, please complete my Inquiry Form to tell me about the quilt you would like me to make. This form is for informational purposes only so that I can provide you with a custom price quote. Completing the form does not obligate you to purchase a quilt from me.
If you are interested in a memory quilt made from other clothing types or a custom quilt made from quilting fabric please send me an email so we can chat options!
What’s a Memory Quilt?
We all have clothing and other items that are connected to special people, places, and moments. That might be a collection of baby clothes, t-shirts from clubs or sports, or the clothing of a deceased friend or relative. Memory quilts use these items to create a blanket that you can wrap around yourself while also getting those precious textiles out of your drawers and storage!
I used to make clothing and so am comfortable working with a variety of different fabrics. I’ve used t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, socks, ties, and jeans in quilts before but there are many other items that you could include. Perhaps you have bandanas, onesies, blouses, or other special items. Please reach out and let me know what you have and we can discuss how to include it in a quilt.
Below are a few examples of different memory quilts that I have made. You can see more examples in these posts.
I do have a cat and she has access to my sewing room. As such I cannot guarantee that your quilt will not come in contact with her fur. So if you have severe allergies to cats I might not be the quilter for you.
Quilt Sizes and Pricing
The following information is to help you determine how many items you'll need for a specific quilt size and will give you a rough estimate on the base price for the quilt.
What is an item?
It is one design on a shirt. So if you have a quilt with a design on the front and a design on the back that actually counts as two items. If that double-sided shirt also has a design on the sleeve that you want included that means it counts as three items.
Shirts with oversized designs (anything greater than 20" x 20") also count as two items.
If you are interested, please complete the Inquiry Form to start a discussion about creating a custom quilt just for you.
Note that all base quilt prices will include the following:
- cotton backing fabric
- batting (the middle layer in the quilt)
- solid color binding (what goes around the edge of the quilt, this is made using the backing fabric)
- an allover quilting design
- custom label
Additional fees may apply for specialty batting or backing fabric, the addition of borders, addition of hanging sleeves, and specialty quilting designs (see the Additional Options section below).
Wall Hanging, Lap, or Crib Size Quilt - $350
- Approximately 48 x 48 inches
- Requires 15-20 items
Large Lap Size Quilt - $500
- Approximately 52 x 64 inches

Multipurpose/Couch Throw Size Quilt - $600

Twin Size Bed Quilt - $700
- Approximately 60 x 84 inches
- Requires 30-40 items
Full Size Bed Quilt - $800
- Approximately 84 – 92 inches
- Requires 45-55 items
Queen Size Bed Quilt - $900
- Approximately 92 x 100 inches
- Requires 55-65 items
King Size Bed Quilt - $995
- Approximately 100 x 112 inches
- Requires 65-80 items
I can add a border or two around your quilt for an additional fee. Borders are recommended for quilts that will be used on a bed as they create a stable place where the fabric is less stretchy, letting you pull the covers up while you are sleeping without any worries! Borders are also good additions for quilts that you will be hanging on the wall as it creates a built in frame. Price varies based on finished size of quilt. Let me know if you are interested in this option on the Inquiry Form.
Want your quilt to easily hang on the wall? I can add hanging sleeves to the back of the quilt so that all you need to do is slip a rod through the back. Price varies based on finished size of quilt. Please just note this on the Inquiry Form.
Quilting by Block
Rather than an allover meandering design I can quilt different designs in each block for an additional fee. Price will vary based on size of the quilt. Note your interest in this option on the Inquiry Form and I can provide you with a custom quote.
Specialty Backing Fabric
Want the backing fabric to match the quilt's theme? Or perhaps you would like a cozy flannel instead of a cotton? Mark that you are interested in specialty backing fabric on the Inquiry Form and then note what backing fabric you are thinking about in the Additional Comments and Questions Section. Price varies based on finished size of quilt.
Custom Quilt Top Design
This option is for people who would like a quilt where the t-shirts are part of a traditional pieced quilt block or those that have clothing items that are not shirts and would like a traditional quilt pattern made out of them. Price varies based on the difficulty of the pattern requested and the size of the quilt. This add on pricing also applies to custom orders for traditional quilts made from quilting fabrics.
Pillows - $75
- Approximately 15 x 15 inches
- Requires 1-5 items
Please fill out my Inquiry Form and mark Pillow to start a conversation.
Just have one or a few shirts? I can make a pillow for you to hug!
These are a good option for the clothes of a deceased loved one as you can make multiple pillows to share with all of those who may need some comfort.
Have too many shirts for your quilt? I can make them into a pillow that matches your quilt order.
Pillows are also good options for unusual pieces that you don’t want to have to wash, such as this pillow that I made from a hand painted shirt:
What Happens to the Rest of the Fabric?
Great question! I am committed to reducing textile waste in our landfills. First, I will use extra fabric from some of your materials in your own quilt as filler blocks. Once your quilt is complete, however, remaining fabric is cut into additional blocks. These are saved with other blocks and later used to make premade wallhangings and lap quilts that you can purchase via my Etsy shop. I also make quilts for local charity organizations through my quilt guild. Remaining scraps that are too small to be cut into one of these sizes are given to a friend who uses them to stuff pet pillows for the local animal shelter. You can read more about my zero-waste process here.
Want the extra fabric back for use in another project? Not a problem. I will happily return all unused portions of items back to you. Please just let me know that you would like them returned.
Have an idea for a quilt that isn’t mentioned above? I'd love to help you out! Fill out my Inquiry Form and leave a note in the Additional Comments and Questions spot or send me an email and let’s chat about it!
